CHP's Leader to Run in By-election

Nearly six months after the sudden passing of Jim Hillyer, a stalwart pro-life MP, a by-election has been called in the riding of Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner. The leader of the Christian Heritage Party, Rod Taylor, will be representing the CHP in that race. He recently toured the area in the south-east corner of Alberta and found considerable support for the party’s pro-life family policies.

In the last federal election, the CHP did not run against former MP Jim Hillyer because of his strong pro-life stance, but with his passing the CHP feels called to ensure that protection of pre-born human life must be kept in the conversation; without a CHP candidate, it is too often "forgotten".

Likewise on the issue of marriage between one man and one woman: some MPs have recently wavered in their support for traditional marriage but the CHP stands firm and will continue to seek its restoration.

Because this by-election will not change the balance of power in Ottawa Mr. Taylor expects that voters will be more likely to vote for the policies that are important to them and the candidate who best represents their views. He claims that the CHP is the clear choice—not only for pro-lifers—but also for fiscal conservatives and points to the dramatic increase in our national debt over the past ten years, leaving a heavy burden on the next generation. Care for the natural environment is another God-given responsibility, as well as the moral environment for our children.

Pro-life, pro-family Canadians must use every opportunity to speak-up on these important issues, and Rod Taylor will be doing this in the Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner by-election.
